David Halliday, CPA
David Halliday, CPA

David is an accountant who wants to see small businesses thrive in what they are good at by helping them understand their financial statements in order to see the story behind their numbers leading to making better business decisions.  Initially David focuses on identifying where there may be cash flow challenges and strategizes on how to improve profitability through implementing systems.  Once installed, he monitors and summarizes this data monthly / quarterly to his clients.  The impact of having an ongoing summarized reports give the business a solid foundation in building a sustainable growth plan.

Before starting Insight Management Professional Corporation, David worked as a senior accountant for Vertex Professional Services dealing with month end reporting and budgeting and oversaw accounts receivables and payables teams.

David also worked as a financial analyst on the planning and analysis team at ATB Financial Inc (ATB) performing quarterly forecasts and monthly analysis along with training on software systems such as SAP, Cognos, and Remedy.

Before working as a financial analyst at ATB, David worked as a business analyst on the SAP implementation project testing. He earned his CMA designation in 2013 while working at ATB.  He has also worked in retail, services, and government industries over the years.

David has enjoyed participating in non-profits organizations as a volunteer for Big Brothers and Big Sisters in Edmonton, a board of director for Seniors Outreach Network Society and a director of finance of 2016 Canadian Ultimate Championship in Edmonton

Currently, David is taking a step back from non-profit organizations while he focuses on Insight MPC and enjoys time with his wife and baby girl cooking and travelling to the mountains when the opportunity arises.

After a successful career in monthly reporting and analysis at Vertex and consolidating budgets and forecasts from all departments at ATB, David now prepares financial reports, analysis and budgets, coaches financial literacy and offers workshops to small businesses and non-profit organizations to help them get from where they are now to where they want to be.
